Beware of the Bear

by Alana Nivingalok

The bear prowls silent through the trees.
Its eyes are storms, breath that freezes.
It gathers all it does not need,
And hoards with claws of ruthless greed.
What it clutches, none escape –
A prison built of fur and shape.
Its love is hunger, sharp and cold,
A claim of power, fierce and bold.
No gentle hand, no gift to spare,
What it takes, it keeps – beware of the bear.
