Something Strange

by Diana Izvoznikova

Something strange is going on,
not all that I can see.
What swims below the surface
doesn't reach me.

I swim towards it with wonder
Why is everyone afraid?
Don't tell me, be aware!
I'll be fine, I swear.

What I found was not what I expected.
Why did I ever swim towards it?
This adventure was a blunder!
My mind is asunder.

I see now
why they were so afraid.
To the curious, I yell, Do not swim!
Reality will seem dim.

Changed is a word I would use to describe
What happened below the surface
And how I survived.

If you are curious,
Go swim.

Come back to the surface,
And you'll see in a whim
Nobody ever wins.
The world is full of sins.
