The Heart of Africa

by Samaila Abida

In the heart of Africa,
There stands a giant, strong and free –
Nigeria,
A land where tribes and tongues unite,
In diversity, we find our might.

Our heroes fought and won the fight,
For freedom's dawn, and morning's light.
The youth now carry dreams anew,
With hope for all that we'll pursue.

Our leaders shape the present day,
Though struggles come along the way.
Through customs rich and traditions deep,
We rise, though challenges may keep.

No, we are not perfect yet,
But through it all, we never forget.
Nigeria's heart beats strong and true,
With every trial, we start anew.

Now, 64 years and standing tall,
Since 1960, through rise and fall.
We've done our best, and we will strive,
For a brighter, better life.

Nigeria, may you always shine,
In every heart, in every mind.

Happy Independence Day!
