by Bailey McCarty
Mothers face bruised From the passing moment of death It brought rise to tears I felt them through my wet shoes She was giving it back To the stones of the roads she had walked on The moonlit earth Of after battle waited outside the door Carried past on her stretched back Her little girl was no longer aware of the air The sky was taking her back As it does to all things which cannot live forever
