waxpoetryart.com's Readers Festival

waxpoetryart.com celebrates the Reader.

Poetry readers are invited to engage and respond to work previously published in Wax Poetry and Art.

Read and Respond
Click the cover images below to read work published prior to 2026. Find a poem that resonates with you, and write a short response. You can describe why the work resonates with you, or respond poetically, as you like. Submit your response and the name of and link to the poem you are responding to.

Deadline: Submit by August 31st, 2026.

Get Paid.... to Read Poetry!
The editor will select one response as the Editor's Choice and the author of the response will be awarded a $10 CAD prize. All responses* will be compiled into a collection and published in the Wax Poetry and Art Library on September 15th, 2026. Payment will be sent within a month following publication. (*With editorial discretion.)

Considerations
– Respond to work published 2021 to 2025. (Work published in 2026 is excluded so as to not directly favour any poets for next year's Poetry World Cup.)
– Write a response to someone elses work. (Don't write a reponse to your own poem.)
– The work being responded to doesn't receive a prize except for inclusion in the resulting collection of reader responses.

Submit by Email
Send your submission by email to info@waxpoetryart.com.
– Please use "Reader Response" as the subject header of the email.
– Include your response, your name, and your location (city/province/country), to be published.
– Please include the link to the work you are responding to as well as the name of the poem and poet.
