Weekly Poems #37 –

Winner: Weekly Poems Contest #37

Grief Concerto

by Michelle Brown

Coda: your song has ended
harmonies at times discordant; finally blended
souls existing in counterpoint

Discordant melodies
Soul-scalpelled heart

Mind and heart moves closer
Picardy third hovers, waiting

Minor chords keen vibrato
until it can no longer hold this melody

Shifting to the major key,
lulling shadows away.

Echoes hover on an unstable bridge
waiting for the third
that may or may not
resolve.
