Minus One

Because you’ve requested my attendance – 

Sitting with my plus one. 
I met him the same way. And he’s fine.  
I picked my dress with you in mind –
I remembered you like an a-line.
No one here knows you’ve tasted me too.
Like I should have a patch to prove.
That could’ve been me up there with you.
Looking for a consolation of some kind. 
There’s no Congeniality Prize and 
If there were, it wouldn’t be mine.
